Medial Branch Facet Radiofrequency

The joints or facets of the spine can generate pain in 40% of patients who have spinal pain. Pain fiber Nerve Conduction Tests (pfNCT) have a 90% chance of correctly demonstrating which facet joint generates the pain.

When the pfNCT suggests that a facet joint generates the pain, a diagnostic Medial Branch Block (MBB) is done. When two differential diagnostic MBB’s result in the patient experiencing at least a 80% reduction in their pain for an hour or longer, then the patient is considered a good candidate for Radiofrequency Rhizotomy (also called a Neurotomy) of the involved nerves.

I have been seen by Dr. Carney since 2008. He has done a couple of different surgeries on me since then. He cares about his patients, he is honest with you about what he can or can’t do for you and if he can not help you he will try to find the right person that can, he has helped me a great deal . THANK YOU for everything you have done for me!!!!!
