Shoulder Injections
Cortisone injections are designed to help relieve pain and inflammation in a specific area of the body. If you are suffering from shoulder pain, you may benefit from a cortisone shot.
Cortisone injections are effective in treating inflammatory arthritis and are used in the treatment of other conditions, including:
Bursitis
Psoriatic arthritis
Reactive arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Tendinitis

During The Shoulder Injection
Ultrasound guidance determines where to place the medication. Dr. Carney then injects a local anesthetic and a steroid into your shoulder joint. You’ll likely feel some pressure when the needle is inserted. It is important to report to the doctor if you experience a significant amount of pain.
Finally, the medication is released into the injection site. Cortisone injections include a corticosteroid medication to relieve pain and inflammation over time, with an anesthetic to provide immediate pain relief.
In the days following the shoulder injection, your pain and inflammation should decrease with results lasting up to several months. To schedule your appointment with Dr. Carney, call our office by dialing 574-389-7737 or contact him online.
